Why can't we be content to sit back and trust the Lord's timing over our own anxiety and urgency

I think our own will has to come in play here Cathay. We are used to having things when WE want them. It's the world in which we live in that says now, now, now. We are told if you want something go out and get it, don't wait for no man. It's a dog eat dog world. If you wait youdont get anywhere. In Gods case, He says I know whats best for you, I know when you need things, I know the exact and perfect timing for all things to come about for the good of you. You just wait and it will come at the right time. Unfortunatley our human nature doesn't want to wait, it's not used to waiting. and the more we want something, God seems to test our patience even longer and that makes our patience even worse. Patience is the hardest thing to master, I know cos Ive been there, done that and worn the teashirt. and still sometimes it takes over. God had a great way of teaching me, he gave me a prayer partner that was so inward, and shy and spoke like a mouse. When I look back now I smile, cos i can remember the steam coming out of my ears waititng for her to speak. I love the Lord and his way of teaching us, he sure has a sense of humour. Lord more of you, less of us in our lives. Amen

Sometimes a bad performance is due to circumstances beyond our control, and many times it is evidence of depending only on ourselves and not on the sufficiency of Christ

Oh gosh. How many times have I gone off and done my own thing rather than listen to the God that knows me inside and out, my thoughts, my words, my actions, etc. Many times, infact too many times. We seem to go along with our human nature, we want to be incontrol, WE WANT! Instead of us realising that it's not about us, its about God, knowing what is best for us. We go off in our own ways thinking that we know whats best for us, but we dont. God is the one in control, he'll let us carry on in our own way and lead us to the the right road to take, His road. What an idiot we feel when we get there, cos it's taken more time to get there than it would do if we were to let God lead in the first place. How stubborn are we? Well I'm afraid I'm pretty stuborn and have learnt my lessons the hard way. I praise God that he is a patient teacher, he loves me even though I take the wrong road many times. Father, help us all to place our complete trust in you, allowing your will to take over our own human ways. In Jesus name. Amen

The real impact of the gospel will be seen when we don’t feel joyful, when we don’t want to pray, and when we can’t think of a reason to be thankful. That’s when we discover if our Christianity is the genuine article or a spiritual counterfeit.
