As many of you mostly know our most famous romany Christian evangelist was gypsy Rodney Smith. His father and uncles were also zealous preachers.however the time was not right for him to preach to other roms and he preached to the gorjo population here and in america seeing many souls saved. Our time came about 30 years ago when a rom by the name of Davy Jones was converted and began touring the different gypsy sites and settlements giving out the word. At that time there were possibly only about 1 or 2 hundred born again believers amongst the gypsy clans.most Roms have always been God fearing but had little understanding of what it was to be a christian, all that was to change under the ministry of Davy Jones.Now as far as I know there are about 30,000 born again believers in this country.The romanys under the Light and Life movement train Pastors,elders,deacons,run missions and a yearly convention.they own a huge mission tent that holds thousands.they have romany churches all over england,they run bible college for the men, and they take the Gospel and aid to countries all over the world.They have been responsible for building schools and funding clinics,medicine and clothes and aid,connecting water supplies and generally improving life for many romanys in the eastern bloc, and india they have always taken and given the gospel where ever they have travelled,America, Israel, India, Romania, Canada and Russia to name just a few places.Yes they have built and maintain and equip romany churches, but all are given a warm welcome if they attend. Warm fellowship, good preaching, wonderful testimonies and a nice cup of tea and slice of cake are always prevalent at a romany church. Light and Life although possibly the biggest romany christian movement in the country is not the only place where christian roms gather. William Lee is another independant preacher,Gypsies For Christ have been working here and abroad for many years.Sonny and Rosemary Gibbard are the leaders of their group and a more loving couple you could not wish to meet.The Gideons Bible folk have helped my husband and I with the distrubution of Bibles on sites and at missions. There is so much more I could write, but sufficent to say will there be gypsies in heaven?? You bet there will! cathayb
